What Is The Best Way To Sleep (Part 2)

Hello Everyone,

In yesterday’s article I talked about what qualities to look for in
a bed to help you make the best choice.

Today I want to talk about pillows.

There are two main goals of a pillow:  Number 1 is to provide
proper support for your sleep position and Number 2 to be versatile
enough to provide support in different areas when you change

When you are lying on your back, you want your head to be as close
to flat as possible with support in your neck which helps to
maintain the proper neck curvature.

If you are lying on your side, you want the pillow to support your
head to where your head is neither leaning down toward the matress
or elevated above the level of your shoulder.  In other words, you
want your head and spine to be in a continuous straight line.

Now I know your next question…..what about when you are lying on
your stomach?  Well…the simple answer is….DO NOT SLEEP ON YOUR
STOMACH.  Sleeping on your stomach stresses your body in too many
ways to mention here, so please just take my advise and avoid
sleeping on your stomach.  I will go into a little more depth on
sleeping positions in tomorrows article.

So, what are the best pillows to help you achieve these goals?  In
my opinion, there are two good options.

Option 1: Is a water pillow.  This is a pillow with a water bladder
in it that allows for excellent versatility with different sleep
positions.  The only negative to these pillows is that the water
bladder makes the pillow itself a little bit heavy.

Option 2:  Memory foam pillow.  This is the pillow that I
personally use, but I have to tell you, it took me many years to
find a memory foam pillow that I liked.  Most of them are
junk…this is truly one of those situations where you get what you
pay for and you have to find the one that works specifically for

If you have any more specific questions about pillows or you have
particular questions about your personal situation, feel free to
